John Grimm (aka the TANK) was one of the half dozen or so uber-collectors of the Misfits and related bands. After almost 20 years The Grimm Collection came to include such super rare items as one of the five Teenagers From Mars acetates, Who Killed Marilyn on swirled vinyl, Horror Business alternate sleeve, various test pressings and other acetates and a complete set of the Plan 9 skateboards. After trying out for pro wrestling John came to work for the Misfits in a career that would eventually span 13 years on the road with his one-time idols. He worked as their merchandiser, Doyle's guitar tech, Robo's drum tech, stage manager in charge of props and effects (for their current stage show) and most importantly their tour manager starting in 2003. In 1999-2000 he even portrayed Frankenstein's Monster on stage with the band as a part of the stage show. John began selling Misfits items that were not readily available to the public like official crew gear and tour laminates in his internet auctions as early as 1995. Having been such a hardcore collector himself he always seemed to have an endless supply of even the most obscure Misfits oddities. It has been several years since the now legendary auction has been up and running, but its return is guaranteed to have something for everyone!
Here are a couple of images of John from The Official Misfits Fiend Club newsletter, "Bleeder's DIE-gest"...
